LEHI, Utah (November 21, 2014)—SirsiDynix is pleased to announce that Buy It Now is now available for all HIP and e-Library users. These users will now be able to buy books, movies, and more from outside retailers through their library’s website or OPAC. As part of SirsiDynix’s Community Funded Services, a portion of each Buy It Now purchase will be returned to the library, increasing revenue for libraries while providing increased buying options for patrons.

Buy It Now comes with no minimum requirements for HIP users. For e-Library users to take advantage of the product, the minimum requirement is SP3.

”The Buy It Now program has been a great asset to Enterprise customers for the last year,” said Justin Swain, Inside Account Manager for SirsiDynix.  “Some participants have earned well over $2,000 in the last year in new library funding.  We are very excited to now offer this valuable feature to HIP and e-Library users.  At no cost to the library, this program really is a fantastic tool for generating revenue that also adds a great new feature to the library catalog.”

With no extra fees or costs for libraries or users, Buy It Now allows users to buy items that may be unavailable in the library’s collection—from books and movies to clothes and furniture. The program is simple and convenient, allowing library users to select a “Buy It Now” option next to most items in their search results. Once they are redirected to a library-branded storefront, they may purchase the item from selected online retailers, including Amazon, with a portion of each purchase being returned to the library.

Buy It Now creates a strong relationship between library and user, one that increases patrons’ shopping options and secures libraries’ positions as community anchors.
