Security levels are customizable for each client’s organization. Clients can use security levels or define new security protocols in Classification Management.

With each security level in Classification Management, clients can restrict both which items are returned in search results and which items a patron can check out or view from the collection. Security levels can also be set for media links and documents in the library collection, allowing broad security measures across all materials in the organization’s library. When patrons access the OPAC in search of materials, Classification Management ensures that only items within that patron’s security level are returned for their review and use. The use of EOS’s Classification Management frees the knowledge management staff from keeping separate versions of information based on security clearance, or from editing search results for separate security clearances.

Security groups can be defined for Classification Management:

When Classification Management is active in your system, the security level assigned to the copy-item, item, ERM, or FAQ record is compared to the security levels selected for the security group assigned to a patron. The comparison determines the eligibility of the patron to check out an item, to return the record in a search, and to list/display records from the browse index.

Additional settings in OPAC allow the security group for the signed in patron to be compared to the browser security level to determine whether or not Browse Search is available. The default security group defined for OPAC suppresses the display of record with security levels outside those selected for the default security group.
