August 8, 2017, LEHI, UT— SirsiDynix is happy to announce that LOUIS: The Louisiana Library Network has chosen to implement Enterprise as their new discovery solution. Enterprise will be integrated with LOUIS’s existing solution, EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS), and is enhanced with the addition of Syndetics Enriched Content.
The LOUIS consortium has been a SirsiDynix customer for 17 years and 35 of its member libraries participate in the ILS/Discovery initiative. The new implementation of the Enterprise discovery system will bring exciting features and functionality to the LOUIS discovery experience. LOUIS libraries will now have administrative access and the ability to customize their Enterprise discovery system. Enterprise provides a modern interface with the discovery and display of both physical and electronic content for a better end-user experience.
Marcy Stevens, a Library Consortium Analyst, has led the Enterprise implementation for LOUIS. Speaking of her experience with Enterprise she said, “After the LOUIS team member initially configures Enterprise, the staff at each institution will have full access to edit the look and feel of their Enterprise system. That is a welcomed change for the LOUIS team and the institution’s staff because now having this access puts the power of customization in their hands. The LOUIS team no longer has to be the middle-man for these customizations.”
LOUIS has also subscribed to Syndetics Enriched Content for LOUIS libraries to enhance the user discovery experience in Enterprise and EDS. Syndetics has already been activated for all LOUIS sites. Lucy Rosenbloom, Continuing Resources and Web Services Specialist at Loyola University in New Orleans said, “Having the cover images seems to cut down on the time the user takes to filter through search results when they come to the circulation desk for help finding a book.”
Enterprise went live for Fletcher Technical Community College, the first LOUIS site on Friday, June 30th. Commenting on the benefits of Enterprise, Fletcher Technical Services Librarian Jodi Duet said, “Implementing Enterprise has created a more user-friendly and aesthetically pleasing interface for our students. Our students love the look and feel of our Enterprise site and finding materials they need has become easier.”
LOUIS is excited about the positive outcomes this system will have on students who come into the library seeking help. Cliffton Theriot, Library Director at Nicholls State University said, “The SirsiDynix Enterprise platform empowers libraries with the tools needed to offer enhanced search capabilities allowing students greater access to the library’s resources.”
The launch plan is to have all LOUIS member libraries live on Enterprise by December of this year.
“We are so excited to hear about LOUIS’s full implementation of Enterprise,” said SirsiDynix CEO Bill Davison. “They have been a valued customer for many years, and we are happy that Enterprise is helping their libraries better serve their users. Here at SirsiDynix, we believe in the power of libraries and we are dedicated to providing our customers with best-of-breed software that gives them the freedom to enhance their solutions through partners, like Syndetics, and thereby creating the best possible learning process for their students.”
