1. Introduction

This privacy policy outlines the practices and policies of SirsiDynix (“we”, “us”, and “our”) regarding the privacy of users of the BLUEcloud Mobile2 app. SirsiDynix is the developer and maintains this privacy policy for the BLUEcloud Mobile2 app, including any white-labelled versions provided to different library organizations. Although the app may be customized and branded differently for various libraries, this policy remains applicable to all versions of the app developed by SirsiDynix.

2. Data Collection

2.1 Personal Information

The app does not collect, store, or share any personal information. Users are not required to provide personal details such as name, email address, or contact information to use the app, although it is possible that user accounts can be created using the app where the ID or Borrow Number contains any combination of first name, last name, nickname, or any part thereof. However, email addresses may be required to access certain third-party digital content.

2.2 Usage Data

The app uses and collects non-identifiable device information including device type, operating system, and app usage patterns. The data is used to improve the app and enhance the user experience, but the app does not use this data to provide app usage statistics. All data is aggregated and anonymized to ensure it cannot be used to identify any individual user.

2.3 Location Data

The app may optionally use and collect both precise location data (such as GPS) and approximate location data (like Wi-Fi or cell tower information) to enhance certain features and functionalities. For example, if the app is permitted to use location data, we may use this data to check for and display the nearest library location available to the user while the app is in use. Users can opt out of, or in to, location services through their device settings at any time to maintain their desired level of privacy and control over the app’s functionality.

3. Data Retention and Deletion

3.1 Personal Information

Email addresses cited in section 2.1 may be retained, stored, or deleted by the third parties to which users voluntarily and externally provide them, although not internally by SirsiDynix. Contrastingly, the information for user accounts created using the app are retained unless and until deleted by a library website administrator. As an example, the Library will have a link to their account deletion request: https://symphony215.psst-sales.sirsidynix.com:7210/DeletePatron.html. Unless specified otherwise, no other personal information is retained.

3.2 Usage Data

Non-identifiable device information cited in section 2.2 is aggregated and anonymized. The data is retained strictly for the purpose specified (to improve the app and enhance the user experience) and only for as long as we deem necessary before deleting this data.

3.3 Location Data

If location services are enabled through users’ device settings, we may temporarily retain the corresponding location data used for app functionality cited in section 2.3. This data is processed ephemerally which means that the data is retained only for as long as is necessary to retrieve functionality and data related to the users’ locations in real-time, after which point the data is automatically erased or deleted.

3.2 Usage Data

Non-identifiable device information cited in section 2.2 is aggregated and anonymized. The data is retained strictly for the purpose specified (to improve the app and enhance the user experience) and only for as long as we deem necessary before deleting this data.

4. Data Sharing

The app does not share any personal information or location data with third parties. Aggregated and anonymized usage statistics are used solely for internal purposes to improve the app.

5. Security

Except for user account information and, if enabled through device settings, location data, the app does not collect or store user data. Various security measures are implemented to ensure the safety of the app; for example, account ‘Pin’ codes are encrypted in transit, as we are committed to maintaining a secure app environment.

6. Other Jurisdictions

A white-labelled version of the BLUEcloud Mobile2 app may have users residing in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area, and/or Switzerland, and in this case the users’ data may be under the remit of the General Data Protection Regulation.
