SirsiDynix Announces General Availability of eResource Central

June 28th, 2013

LEHI, UTAH (June 28, 2013) – With six customers running eResource Central (eRC) already, SirsiDynix has announced eRC’s general availability for all libraries. eRC is an electronic content (e-content) management and delivery system designed to unify and simplify e-content management and delivery. It allows library staff to manage all their library’s e-content in one place and load custom e-content collections to their OPAC in minutes. It also lets library users search e-content alongside physical content, see real-time availability and previews for e-content, and download titles from within the catalog.

Lincoln Library, the Public Library of Springfield, IL, a Horizon library, uses eRC to access e-content from OverDrive and OneClickdigital. As Julie Wullner, an electronic resources librarian, commented, “I tried out a OneClickdigital checkout and it worked seamlessly. After checking out in Enterprise I went to my app and there it was!”

The library has also been very happy with their OverDrive integration. “The eRC OverDrive integration makes the workflow for both staff and patrons more efficient. Titles imported into eResource Central admin and synched to Enterprise are conveniently displayed in the search hit list along with ILS results,” said Lois Morse, assistant director of Lincoln Library, the Public Library of Springfield, IL. “Therefore, it is not necessary to check multiple catalogs or electronic databases for alternative formats that might be immediately available.”

At its release, eRC works with eight major content providers, more than any other digital content management tool. It also offers excellent stability with the production systems at all of the six libraries running pre-release versions. SirsiDynix is currently working with many other global and regional content providers to integrate their e-content.

“This is an important milestone for libraries looking to the future of eResource management,” said David King, SirsiDynix VP of Product Management. “eRC gives those libraries an easy way to manage and deliver their eResources that lets them keep the variety of content providers they want and the ILS they trust. They no longer have to let their choice of eResource management software determine which eResources are available to their community.”

“At this point, eRC is hard to beat,” said Bill Davison, SirsiDynix CEO. “It offers an industry-leading breadth of content providers, as well as an industry-leading depth of integration. Libraries running eRC have freedom to choose the content they want and the ability to manage all that different content in one place. Our early adopter customers have found fantastic time savings with eRC.”
